DIABETES AWARENESS DURING IFTAR AND DINNER AT PAKISTAN ASSOCIATION DUBAI

The Diabetes Centre – Pakistan (TDC) organized a diabetes awareness iftar and dinner at the premises of Pakistan Association Dubai on Friday, June 2, 2017. The event was well attended. HE Moazzam Ahmed Khan, Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the UAE was the Chief Guest.

In his presentation on Diabetes, the Chairman of TDC, Dr. Asjad Hameed, informed the audience that diabetes is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality throughout the world. Diabetes is associated with high rate of hospitalization, blindness, amputation, heart disease and kidney failure, among many other complications. It is also one of the most common non-communicable disease globally. According to WHO report in 2011, about 13 million people are suffering from diabetes in Pakistan and many more are unaware. The estimate is that one in ten Pakistanis is Diabetic. In this scenario, TDC took on the challenge of dealing with the epidemic of diabetes sweeping through Pakistan. We believe that we have a collective responsibility to improve our nations’ health through diabetes awareness, education and health care delivery.

TDC treats patients irrespective of their ability to pay. From it’s inception, TDC has treated 45,000 patients of which 70% have been treated free of charge. We aspire to be a centre of excellence offering comprehensive and compassionate care to the diabetics in Pakistan. Consequently, we are also the largest charity in Pakistan, focusing on Diabetes care, treatment and awareness. Our state-of-the-art hospital is 70% complete. We seek your support to complete this multi-level building project to serve many more.

TCS OPENS INTERNATIONAL GATEWAY FACILITY IN PAKISTAN POWERED BY UPS NETWORK

TCS Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd., Pakistan’s most recognized courier, logistics and e-commerce provider, has opened an international gateway facility in Karachi. Recently appointed as the official Authorized Service Contractor of UPS (NYSE: UPS), TCS is investing to enhance international express capabilities in Pakistan. The new gateway is connected to the UPS integrated global network and helps TCS streamline import and export shipments.

STANDARD CHARTERED CHAIRMAN JOSÉ VIÑALS VISITS PAKISTAN

Mr. José ViÒals, Group Chairman of Standard Chartered PLC, was in Pakistan on a two-day visit. This was his first visit to Pakistan, since becoming Chairman in December 2016. His visit is a strong reflection on the Bank’s growing commitment to the country.

The Chairman also visited Quaid-e-Azam’s mazar and paid homage to the Father of the Nation by laying a wreath in his memory.

During his visit he also met the Acting Governor of State Bank of Pakistan and had meetings with key clients of the Bank.

PAKISTAN’S FIRST BREAST CANCER HOSPITAL

MCB Bank, Pakistan’s Best Bank, donated a sum of PKR 500,000 to the renowned NGO Pink Ribbon towards the construction of Pakistan’s first dedicated breast cancer hospital. JAZZ 6TH CORPORATE T-20 CUP 2017 BEGINS

DHA Sports club (Moin Khan Academy) launched Cola Next Presents Jazz 6th Corporate T20 cup 2017. The tournament will commence from 9th June till 23rd June, 2017 at DHA Sports club (Moin Khan Academy). The Opening match of the tournament will be played between SSGC vs SBP.

An Inaugural match will be played between Jazz Junaid Jamshed Members IX and Cola Next Amjad Sabri Stars XI on 8th June, 2017. Both the teams are consisting of top celebrities of the country. In the tournament country’s top eight teams are participating which include State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Omar Associates, United Bank Limited (UBL), Sui Southern Gas Limited (SSGC), Sui Southern Gas Pipeline Company Limited (SNGPL), K-Electric and Brighto Paints.

The Tournament carries total prize money of Rs. 2.0 Million with the winner to be fetch Rs. 800,000 and Runner up Rs, 400,000. The Rest will be rewarded as individual prizes. The Tournament will be transmitted on PTV World and PTV Global Channel.

Former Pakistan Captain and CEO Moin Khan Sports Academy expressed his sentiments with remarks: – “It is a moment of immense pleasure for me to organize this tournament and giving platform to the upcoming national stars.
