Mr Saim Amin is one of the dynamic young entrepreneurs of Pakistan. He is co-founder of CORPORATE FORUM, one of the leading corporate training organizations in Pakistan. Having completed his education, he came up with an idea to launch a quality corporate training organization. He is hardly 29 years of age with a success story. His aim was to ensure quality corporate training with individual attention so that learning actually takes place.[/box]
PAGE: WHAT MADE YOU COME UP WITH AN IDEA TO LAUNCH A CORPORATE TRAINING ORGANIZATION?
SAIM AMIN: Let me be honest by telling you that my experience as a student and as a participant in training has taught me that there is a lot of room for improvement in this regard. Corporate sector needs to ensure that the employees are updated with the latest trends so that performance may also be up to mark with the ever-changing requirements and trends. We launched CORPORATE FORUM to bring about change in terms of quality focusing on individual’s learning capabilities. It is a general perception that there are always lots of time-wasting activities during every training session in the name of bringing about vitality and enthusiasm. I am of the view that no one has got time to waste and the world has become extremely competitive that we cannot afford wasting time. It is high time we must focus on learning and keeping pace with the rest of the world.
The main reason to launch CORPORATE FORUM was to ensure quality corporate training for those who want to bring about innovation and result-oriented performance. We launched CORPORATE FORUM a couple of years ago and have been extremely thankful to God for mega success.
PAGE: DO YOU FOCUS EVERY ORGANIZATION FOR TRAINING/LEARNING?
SAIM AMIN:Â Yes, we do. Let me tell you that the major chunk of business in Pakistan is of entrepreneurs (saith) and unfortunately there is very little focus in entrepreneurial organizations for training/learning. What I have experienced is that an entrepreneur (saith) thinks it is the responsibility of the employee to learn on his/her own and pay from his/her own pocket, which seems difficult for an employee whereas in corporate culture employees are being encouraged to go for training which is financed by the organization. No organization can grow without the growth of its employees.
PAGE: WHAT IS YOUR VIEW ON THE TRAINING BUDGET?
SAIM AMIN: There are so many organizations where handsome amount is approved for the training of employees, however, it is also a sad story that lots of organizations don’t consume the budget citing the reason that if employees go for training, who will work and who will complete the assignments in time. The training/learning heads of various organizations need to explore new training organizations for training on various aspects. What actually happens is that a training/learning head nominates employees for training based on his/her perception or due to personal relations unfortunately.

PAGE: WHAT SHOULD GOVERNMENT DO TO PROMOTE LEARNING IN PUBLIC SECTOR ORGANIZATIONS?
SAIM AMIN:Â The government could do a lot in this regard. Skilled workforce is always an asset. The government should consider the Pakistani training organizations while awarding contracts so that the home grown start-ups get encouraged and quality training/learning may be ensured.
