NVIDIA UNSHACKLES QUADRO PERFORMANCE ON TITAN CLASS GRAPHICS CARDS:
The latest drivers 385.12 is helping NVIDIA to bring Quardo level performance and feature on their existing Titan series. YOUTUBE CHILD PROTECTION MECHANISM ‘FAILING’:
YouTube’s child protection mechanism is breaking down, according to some of the company’s volunteer watchdogs. There’s a constant anxiety that those seeking to abuse or groom young children will use social media to reach them – and YouTube is aware of the problem. The video-sharing site has a special network of volunteers, called Trusted Flaggers, who help identify worrisome posts and comments on the network.
APPLE ‘WORKING ON NON-IPHONE APPLE WATCH’:
Apple is working on an Apple Watch that does not need to be paired to an iPhone, according to a report.
Bloomberg reports that the new Watch will connect directly to LTE mobile networks. The company has begun talks with providers in the US and Europe about offering the device later this year.
CHINA HOLDS DRILL TO SHUT DOWN ‘HARMFUL’ WEBSITES:
China has carried out an internet drill to practise closing down websites the authorities consider to be harmful. State run media said Thursday’s exercise was also aimed at forcing internet data centres to hand over contact details of website owners.
UBER’S TRAVIS KALANICK SUED FOR FRAUD:
Travis Kalanick, the former Uber chief executive who was ousted in June, is being sued by one of the company’s biggest investors. Benchmark Capital, which owns 13% of the ride-sharing firm, has accused Mr Kalanick of fraudulently attempting to fill board seats with loyal allies.

FaceApp has removed a feature which changed people’s ethnicity in selfies less than 24 hours after updating it. The app, which launched in early 2017, changes photos with filters to make users look older, younger or swap gender.
CHINA’S VPN DEVELOPERS FACE CRACKDOWN:
China recently launched a crackdown on the use of software which allows users to get around its heavy internet censorship. And now app developers are finding themselves under growing pressure. The three plain-clothes policemen tracked him down using a web address. They came to his house and demanded to see his computer. They told him to take down the app he was selling on Apple’s App Store, and filmed it as it was happening.
