Mission of Ali Hajvery Free Drug Bank

Since 2012 Ali Hajvery Free Drug Bank (AHFDB) has restored 800,000 lives by providing free of cost medicines to deserving patients to patients at Mayo, General and Mian Munshi Hospital. The non-profit organization was founded by Dr. Zaheer-ul-Hassan Mir with the vision to cater to the needs of growing population of patients entering public hospitals. For most patients, medicine remains as a major cost of their treatment. Every month, 18,000 patients at Mayo Hospital and 15,000 patients at Lahore General Hospital do not have to worry about this burden because of provision of free medicines by the centers. AHFDB established General medicines stores at Lahore General Hospital and Mayo Hospital Lahore. Almost 30,000 plus patients getting free medicines each month from these stores.

Ali Hajvery is also providing insulin to 500 diabetic patients monthly and life changing and lifesaving medicines to people suffering from cancer, thalassemia and hepatitis. At cancer ward of Mayo Hospital, Ali Hajvery is providing medicines worth Rs. 500,000 every month.

In addition to providing medicines, Ali Hajvery is committed to serving patients with kidney disorders through its Free Dialysis Center located at Mian Munshi Hospital. Dialysis gives patients a second chance in life. When kidneys fail to work, dialysis replaces their natural function. Imagine how important dialysis is at keeping patients alive by serving as an artificial kidney. At Mian Munshi Hospital, Ali Hajvery has 12 dialysis machines through which we are providing free dialysis services to 550 patients on a monthly basis.

Children suffering birth defects at Mayo Hospital’s paediatric ward are also provided treatment. At one time 70 such children are being catered to.

The burden of providing free healthcare is ever growing. We are prepared to offer support to patients outside hospital premises. Currently Ali Hajvery is providing healthcare services and free medicines at Data Darbar. And now we are also working on acquiring ambulances in three of our centers.
