Air pollution will cost the global economy $225 billion over the next year and take an estimated seven million lives. That’s according to the IQAir AirVisual 2018 World Air Quality Report which was compiled together with Greenpeace. The research found that 15 of the world’s 20 worst-polluted cities are in India with Gurugram in first place.
Situated 30 kilometres southwest of the Indian capital, Gurugram’s average level of PM 2.5 pollution in 2018 stood at 135.8, just ahead of second-placed Ghaziabad’s 135.2. Faisalabad in Pakistan was the third-worst city worldwide for air pollution last year with average PM 2.5 levels of 130.4
