Interview with Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi — Bahrain-based Pakistani
PAGE: Tell me something about yourself, please:
Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi: I have been living in Bahrain since 2016. My family lives with me and I have two children. I have been working in aviation sector for last 22 years. I am graduate electronic engineer and after completion of my graduation, I joined PIA. At present I am working at Gulf Air, the national Airlines of Bahrain.
PAGE: Could you tell me about the Pakistan Day celebrations in Bahrain?
Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi: Bahrain is the country of multicultural and multinational. People from different countries live here with peace and harmony. Many Pakistanis also live here; mostly belong to labour class. However, many Pakistanis are working at different good and high level profiles including police and defence forces. The main event of the Pakistan Day celebration is held at the Embassy of Pakistan and in two schools that are run by the Embassy of Pakistan. Children who are studying in international schools seldom get chance to celebrate this day.
PAGE: What is your perspective about kids born in foreign countries and celebrating Pakistan Day with zeal?
Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi: It depends on where those children study. If they are attending school that is run by embassy, they celebrate this day at their school. Other kids don’t get chance to celebrate and many kids even are unaware of these important days.
PAGE: Could you tell us about other nationals taking part in the celebrations along with Pakistani diaspora?
Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi: Some people celebrate Pakistan Day at their homes and invite their friend and colleagues. Pakistan Embassy also organises celebration of Pakistan Day and used to arrange festival in public parks. However, after Coronavirus the Embassy celebrates this event within Embassy premises.
PAGE: How would you describe your love for Pakistan?
Muhammad Mohsin Abbasi: Pakistan is our motherland and whatever I am , it is reward from Pakistan. I am indebted to my beloved country.
A love for country increases manifold if you live outside your country. We miss the memories of our past when we used to live in Pakistan. We miss our family and friends. I have been to many countries and cities, but couldn’t find any lovely place like Pakistan.
