IT Ministry Set to Launch Telecom Infrastructure Sharing Framework:

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) is all set to launch Infrastructure Sharing Framework after the cabinet’s approval. This was stated by Member Telecom Omar Malik while speaking at a webinar titled “Adopting 5G to Positively Impact Environment: A Roadmap for Pakistan” organized by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) on Wednesday.


Android 14 Beta 1 is Here With Several Useful Features:

Google has just made the first beta of Android 14 available to the public, following two developer previews earlier this year. This means that even non-developers can easily try out the upcoming software by enrolling their compatible Pixel device at the Android Beta website. Once enrolled, Android 14 Beta 1 will be delivered as an over-the-air update. If you’re already enrolled in the Android 13 QPR Beta program with a compatible device, you’ll automatically receive the update to Android 14 Beta 1.


PITB, Zindigi Sign MoU to Integrate Zindigi App with E-Pay Punjab:

Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zindigi, powered by JS Bank Limited for the online payment of government receipts through e-Pay Punjab. As per the MoU, Zindigi will be on-boarded for the digital integration of the Zindigi App with e-Pay Punjab. After the integration, one million plus users of the Zindigi App will be able to pay traffic challans and 25 other taxes directly via e-Pay Punjab App.

Android is Getting a Handy Space Saving Feature:

Google is rolling out its auto-archive feature on Android, which allows you to remove unused apps from a device without erasing user data. This new feature is comparable to Apple’s Offload Unused Apps feature on iOS and can free up nearly 60% of an app’s storage space without having you delete any of your apps. What’s even better is that this feature is automatic, meaning you won’t have to go cleaning up all your storage when you run out of space. Still, the feature will ask for permission before removing anything.

NPR quits Twitter over ‘government-funded’ label:

National Public Radio (NPR) in the US has announced it will stop using Twitter in a row over how its account is described. The US not-for-profit news organization clashed with the social media platform over its decision to describe the outlet as “government-funded media”. NPR says it undermines its credibility, as US government funding accounts for less than 1% of its budget.

Elon Musk: Twitter owner changes BBC account’s ‘government funded’ label:

Twitter has changed a label on the main BBC account, saying it is “publicly funded” instead of “government funded media”, after the broadcaster objected. In an interview with BBC News on Tuesday, the social media giant’s owner Elon Musk said he would make the change because “we’re trying to be accurate”. On Sunday, the BBC disputed the original description, saying: “The BBC is, and always has been, independent. “We are funded by the British public through the licence fee.” Speaking to BBC North America technology reporter James Clayton in San Francisco, Mr Musk noted: “I know the BBC for example’s not thrilled about being labelled state-affiliated media.”


Cambridge University scientists create robotic hand able to hold objects:

Scientists have designed a robotic hand that can grasp and hold objects using only the movement of its wrist. The 3D-printed hand was created by a team at the University of Cambridge. It was implanted with sensors that enabled it to “sense” what it was touching and more than 1,200 tests were carried out, using objects including a peach, computer mouse and bubble wrap. Researchers said the human hand was extremely complex and recreating its capabilities was a massive challenge. Dr Thomas George-Thuruthel, formerly of the University of Cambridge who is now a lecturer in robotics and AI at University College London, said: “The sensors, which are sort of like the robot’s skin, measure the pressure being applied to the object.


Pentagon leak: How secret files on Ukraine spread, then disappeared:

The first screenshots of the documents we’ve been able to verify were posted on 1 March. More appeared a few days later. They appeared on Discord – a social media platform popular with gamers – and were shared on several discussion channels. Kuwait news outlet unveils AI-generated presenter Fedha:

A Kuwaiti media outlet says it has created a virtual news presenter using artificial intelligence (AI). “Fedha” made her debut on the Twitter account of Kuwait News, an affiliate of the Kuwait Times. She appears as an image of a woman with light-coloured hair, wearing a black jacket and white T-shirt. Abdullah Boftain, deputy editor-in-chief for Kuwait News, told AFP news agency the move tested AI’s potential to offer “new and innovative content”. “I’m Fedha, the first presenter in Kuwait who works with artificial intelligence at Kuwait News. What kind of news do you prefer? Let’s hear your opinions,” the AI-generated presenter said in Arabic.
