Aramco’s bold moves and ACES’ ambitious ventures at LEAP conference

The LEAP conference in Riyadh witnessed significant collaborations and investments from prominent companies, particularly in the technology sector. Aramco’s technology arm, Aramco Digital, stood out with several groundbreaking announcements, reported Arab News on Thursday (March 7).

Firstly, the potential partnership with Groq, a leader in AI chip technology, aims to establish the world’s largest AI computer centre in Saudi Arabia. This move aligns with the country’s Vision 2030 and emphasises the commitment to fostering growth in the AI industry within the region.

Furthermore, Aramco Digital’s joint venture with LTIMindtree aims to establish a new digital and IT services company, catering to Saudi Arabia and the wider MENA region. This venture underscores the company’s dedication to local talent development and economic impact.

The collaboration with Intel to establish Saudi Arabia’s first Open Radio Access Network (ORAN) development centre is another significant initiative. This move highlights the focus on innovation and global collaboration, positioning Saudi Arabia as a key player in telecommunications technology.

Following Aramco’s lead, ACES unveiled its own ambitious plans, including substantial investments in infrastructure across various sectors and technologies in both Saudi Arabia and India. Their focus on developing cutting-edge telecommunications infrastructure, such as the Kingdom’s first shareable 5G small-cells and the deployment of Fibre-to-the-Home to hundreds of thousands of households, demonstrates a commitment to advancing connectivity and technology accessibility.
