Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Khalifa bin Jassem Al-Kuwari, expressed keen interest in expanding the fund’s presence in Pakistan’s power generation and housing sectors during his visit to Islamabad on Saturday, (March 23).

Leading a two-day QFFD delegation in Islamabad, Al-Kuwari, along with the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Pakistan Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, met with Minister for Economic Affairs, Ahad Khan Cheema. Both parties discussed plans to bolster bilateral cooperation through technical-level discussions.

Minister Cheema underscored his government’s priority to strengthen ties with Qatar, particularly in developing mega projects in the water sector. He warmly welcomed CEO Al-Kuwari and commended Qatar’s role in Pakistan’s development, emphasiSing the enduring friendship between the two nations. Additionally, Cheema congratulated Al-Kuwari on receiving a Civil Award from the President of Pakistan in recognition of his services to the country.

Expressing gratitude for Qatar’s support during challenging times, Cheema thanked the State of Qatar for pledging $25 million to aid flood-affected areas in 2022. He also lauded QFFD’s support during this period and pledged to further fortify relations with Qatar in the future. Al-Kuwari reciprocated the sentiments, thanking Pakistan for conferring him with the Civil Award and reaffirming QFFD’s commitment to assisting Pakistan in its journey towards recovery and prosperity, particularly through climate-resilient infrastructure projects.
