Mardan is a town and the headquarters of Mardan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan.
The name Mardan was given to a little area after the name of Pir Mardan Shah of Iran, a distinguished spiritual figure.
In 1937, Mardan was created as an independent district after the name of its headquarters city. Mardan is the nineteenth largest town of Pakistan. It is the second most inhabited town within the province.
The villages are divided into Kandis (congested houses). Each kandi is further divided into sub-sections. The divisions of Kandis are on the pattern of agricultural lands. Their homes usually encompass 2 or 3 rooms and a court-yard known domestically as ghollai and varandah. The cattle and poultry also are accommodated beside the shelter for family.
Due to the project of China Pakistan Economic passageway Rashakai is currently an Economic zone. Rashakai comes in Nowshera town as per government however it’s quite near to Mardan town and it’ll benefit Mardan more as compared to Nowshera.
